Quiz Night 2026 – A Fantastic Start to the Season!

Quiz Night 2026 – A Fantastic Start to the Season!

Caroline Dooling27 Apr - 22:03

A brilliant evening was had by all at our annual Quiz Night on Friday 24th April!

With a fantastic turnout of members and friends, it was the perfect way to kick off the 2026 season – and, just as importantly, our biggest fundraiser of the year.

A huge thank you goes to Quiz Master, Richard Royds, who kept everyone on their toes with a series of taxing (and occasionally head-scratching!) rounds. Meanwhile, behind the bar, Nick Westcott-White made sure glasses were never empty and spirits stayed high throughout the night.

Halfway through, we were treated to a delicious chilli and rice supper – massive thanks to Jo, Jennie, Serena and Lou for keeping everyone well fed. Special mention too for Wilfred S, who did a sterling job serving snacks and dips to tables like a true pro.

There was plenty of action beyond the quiz itself. Chris Loveday triumphed in the ever-entertaining heads or tails game, while the raffle - compered by Chairman Chris Holmes - drew plenty of excitement thanks to an incredible array of prizes. We’re hugely grateful to everyone who donated prizes, including:

* Chairman Chris (venison haunch)
* Stuart Chapman (magnum of Chateau La Petite Roque Memoire 2016 and a Visconti Homo Sapiens Lava ballpoint pen)
* Rob Shaw (Beco dog hamper)
* Jess Gloak (Clinique beauty set)
* Andy Gloak (UA golf glove & balls)
* Malcolm Gloak (two bottles of Chateau Poujeaux Moulis-en-Médoc)
* Haslemere Fringe (family weekend ticket)
* The White Horse (two bottles of wine)
* Yonda Fitness Gym (21-day trial)
* CYC:D (5 class vouchers)
* The Fox & Pelican, Grayshott (dinner for two)
* Earley & Daughters (candle)

After an exceptionally close battle right up to the final round, the Not So Local Yokels took home the 2026 Quiz Winners Trophy. Congratulations!

Most importantly, thank you to everyone who came along and supported the evening. Your generosity helps fund vital areas like grounds maintenance and youth kit, and nights like this remind us what a special club we have here at Grayswood.

A superb evening, full of laughter, great food and friendly competition – the perfect way to get 2026 underway. Roll on the season!
