Brook came into the game on the back of a 9 wicket loss to Grayshott while Grayswood had secured two wins from two to start their season in fine form.
Brook won the toss and bravely, given the Grayshott result, elected to bat. The early exchanges were cagey as the Brook openers looked to give their team a platform to build an innings. The bowling was tight and Brook struggled for fluency losing their first wicket in the 20th over to a sharp catch by Sopes with the score on 53. After that wickets fell regularly until a late order flourish and some indifferent fielding allowed Brook to post 163-8 off their allotted 45 overs. The bowlers all bowled well with the pick being Matt O'Leary with 5-52 on debut.
Grayswood opened with the evergreen Soper and Camel ensuring that there would be no dashing singles early on. They started confidently until Camel departed with the score on 26. Pete and Sopes took the score to 52 before the latter lost his off stump to Suranga. When Pete was dismissed for 39 with the score at 84 there was the sniff of an upset. However Tucks produced a gem of an innings to put the result beyond doubt. It was left to John Twyford to hit the winning runs in the 33rd over.
Another good and efficient performance.
