Title winners Grayswood tie at Tilford

The Champions went to Tilford for the final game of the season. The hosts won the toss and elected to bat. Grayswood struggled to take wickets on a placid pitch but gave little away and at 35-2 were very much in the game. Ellis (66) and Swarbrick(86) then put on 121 for the 3rd wicket at just under a run a ball and an above par score looked likely. However Jackson bowled Ellis and Wrenn in consecutive balls to take his seasons tally to 36 and Kent bowled Swarbrick the hosts finished up on 212 off their 45 overs. Jackson (2-20) and Hind (0-24) the pick of the bowlers off their 9 overs.
In reply Barnardo fell early, giving him time to ponder the seasons fielding awards for later. Atkinson and Jackson then looked untroubled in taking the score to 92. Atkinson (46) was caught in the deep and Jackson (39) was splendidly run out then Millard went cheaply so at 114-4 the game was wide open again. Beckett and Kent steadied the ship until the former became Rooney’s 3rd wicket and a rare failure for Jeffrey left the Champions at 142-6 and Tilford looking favourites again. Alastair Gloak and Kent looked to be steering Grayswood to victory at 195-6 but they both fell and a 6 ball duck for Andy Gloak left Grayswood needing 6 off the last over 9 down. They managed 5 with Conway run out off the final ball of the season for the tie and 12 points each to bring the curtain down on a fabulous season.
