James won the toss an elected to bat at Witley. He and Tom laid a solid foundation against the accurate Witley attack. Tom (31) was first to go with the score on 76. Chris and James then looked to accelerate where possible before Chris perished. James went to 50 in Buttleresque fashion but was out trying a repeat. Some lusty blows from Sam and a healthy extras contribution helped the team reach 158-7 off 45.
As so often Anil made an early breakthrough and 2 wickets apiece for Jeremy & Chetan (one a brilliant caught & bowled) and a bizarre run out reduced Witley to 61-6. The 7th wicket partnership then added 72 to put Witley back in the driving seat. However when all seemed lost Alex Royds on his 2's debut was rewarded for his hitherto luckless spell with the wickets of both set batsmen. With all results possible with 2 overs to go some lusty blows from Lyall took Witley to victory with 5 balls to spare. A really good game of cricket played in very good spirit by both teams.
